A stunning Australian Shearing Shed Wedding.
Being a Destination Wedding Photographer, I typically get to capture weddings on gorgeous beaches with swaying coconut trees, beautiful sunsets while being surrounded by big Fijian smiles. So when Gary and Zoey asked me to capture their beautiful Australian Shearing Shed country wedding, they immediately had my interest and excitement.
They chose a beautiful Shearing Shed hand built back in the 50’s by Garys great Grandfather and Great Uncle, using the timber they cut and milled on their Wilgama Property located at Wee Waa NSW Australia.
In true country Australian style, the couple worked on styling and setting up their wedding venue right up until the afternoon before their special day.
They choose to utilised the native trees on farm to decorate the shed in arm fulls of greenery. They used everyday items from the shearing shed to stylise the shed for the day from the wool hooks, bales and trolleys to give it an authentic feel. The shed is a 100% working shed – with sheep shorn 3 days after their wedding!
So where did it all begin? Lets hand it over to Zoey and Gary.
Gary and I met in a pub in Toowoomba. We were with separate party’s – so swapped numbers. We chatted daily on the phone.
I lived in Taroom, Qld and he lived in Wee Waa, Nsw. We hit it off instantly and had a long distance relationship for the first 6 months.
I decided to find a job down south to minimise the distance. Found an amazing job. It wasn’t until after I took the position that I realised my new job was actually 1400km south of Wee Waa (Taroom was 600km lol).
So Gary decided to move down to Victoria with me ?
He proposed (even dropped the knee!) while we were away for a Long weekend horse riding thru the Victorian Highcountry.
Wedding Suppliers and Recommendations
We utilised local suppliers where ever we could. We used Joe Haynes from North West hire in Narrabri. Joe was fantastic to deal with – excellent prices and a huge range.
My gorgeous flowers were by Donna Stoltenberg from Pepperytree Florist in Narrabri. Her service was fantastic, friendly and incredible value for money. I couldn’t have been any happier with my flowers!
Our entertainment for the night was provided by the talented Steve Druce from Narrabri. He was super to deal with, fantastic value for money – and we would not hesitate to use him again for ANY other function in the future.
I had a very firm picture of how I wanted the wedding to look (thanks to Pinterest) I wanted laid back country with a bit of glamour. My favourite parts were the chandeliers in the shearing shed, the hay bale feature wall and the festoon lights!
Our wonderful day was captured by Leezett Photography. Leezett was wonderful to work with. She seemlessly orchestrated family photos before whisking the bridal party away for a Magical sunset shoot. Several people in both the bridal party and wedding guests commented on how uninvasive and professional Leezett was. Most people never even noticed her presence during the ceremony.
Both Gary and myself have been involved in several bridal party photo shoots, and this was by far the most pleasant experience. Leezett was super efficient, very organised and professional. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone needing an amazing wedding photographer
